As the Information Systems Security Officer, you will be working with the Director of Security, Chief Information Systems Security Officer, security division team members, and Parallax clients. When working with your team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with various regulations, the ISSO collaborates closely with IT, business process owners, and fellow security professionals to operate within a risk-managed environment. Responsibilities include the implementation and enforcement of security policies and procedures, conducting thorough risk assessments, and coordinating responses to security incidents.

In this position, you will not only be working with IT, but also crucial in upholding a secure information system posture, aligning with regulatory frameworks, and cultivating a culture of continuous improvement in information security practices. This role plays a key part in harmonizing regulatory requirements with operational needs, safeguarding the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive information across the organization.

In addition to that, a typical day-in-the-life of the Information Systems Security Officer includes:

In charge of supporting the drafting, coordination, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of systems in strict accordance with ICD-503/JSIG/DAAPM, under the guidance of senior team members.
Support the FSO/CPSO in the oversight of classification management, safeguarding and transmittal of classified documents as required by the 32 CFR Part 117 NISPOM Rule and other government guidance and documents.
Support the ISSM in ensuring NIST 800-171 compliance and obtaining a Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC).
Aid in the development and implementation of a robust, on-going cyber security training program targeting cleared and uncleared employees.
Maintain and administer Communications Security (COMSEC) account(s) while providing support for the use of secure communication equipment within the organization.
Conduct new-hire onboarding and orientation sessions as necessary to ensure smooth integration into the company.
Respond to building and/or facility alarms promptly and effectively as required.

Ideally, you are looking for your next long-term challenge and have these skills:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field or 4 years of equivalent experience in IT or Security.
Specific experience in roles related to information assurance, system administration, or cybersecurity management.
Comprehensive information security principles, practices, and technologies.
Functional understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and frameworks, such as NIST, FISMA, or other applicable standards.
Strong risk management skills and the ability to conduct risk assessments.
Strong organizational and project management skills.
Ability to analyze complex security issues, identify vulnerabilities, and propose effective solutions.
DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification(s) (CCNA-Security, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, CND, or SSCP)
Current TS Clearance
U.S. Citizenship

Furthermore, do you have, or want to develop these skills?

Working knowledge of Azure, AWS, or GCP services, architectures, and best practices.
Functional familiarity in incident response and digital forensics, demonstrating the ability to handle and investigate security incidents effectively.
Knowledge and experience in securing cloud-based environments, especially if the organization is transitioning to or heavily relies on cloud services.
Experience in the application of logical and physical security controls required to protect HIPAA, ITAR, EAR and other forms of controlled unclassified information (CUI).
