Production Manager

Position Summary

Oversees and manages all manufacturing operations. Sets and achieves strategic economic and production goals while optimizing plant efficiency. Directs all manufacturing personnel.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversees all manufacturing operations
  • Responsible for coordinating with engineering for major capital projects
  • Supervises and evaluates job performance of all manufacturing employees within the organization
  • Monitors production schedule to ensure customer delivery dates are met
  • Works closely with the sales and technical departments and assist in resolving customer and technical problems pertaining to product quality, production, and delivery concerns
  • Studies and reviews manufacturing process to optimize plant efficiency; continually improve production methods, labor, machinery, and equipment
  • Manages maintenance of plant facilities, buildings, grounds, machinery, and equipment
  • Reviews financial and budgetary reports and cost data to ensure plant operations meet corporate business objectives and financial results
  • Manages employee training program and records to ensure employees perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Assures company compliance with all established government regulations, corporate policies, and company procedures pertaining to plant safety and environmental regulations
  • Ensures the company remains up to date on industry standards and technological advancements to maintain competitive edge
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field of study (Business Administration, Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering) with 5 years management experience in a like industry.

  • Strong computer skills, including the use of: Excel, Outlook, and Word

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; can effectively communicate with all levels within the organization, customers, and corporate officials
  • Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy
  • Leadership and team building skills, able to direct and motivate others in a diversified organization to accomplish company objectives
  • Time management skills, can organize, prioritize, and balance personal life against the conflicting time demands required of a senior level position
  • An understanding of general manufacturing and accounting processes
  • Problem solving and reasoning ability, can mentally process and comprehend complex issues involving multiple variables
  • Ability to retain confidential information
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Preferred knowledge and training in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and/or Theory of Constraints
  • Mechanical reasoning skills, including the ability to analyze and trouble shoot a variety of manufacturing related equipment
  • Ability to travel periodically as needed
