Job Posting for Director of Activities at Paramount Care Centers
Manhattanview Rehab Healthcare Center is seeking a Director of Activities and Recreation to join our team!
The Director of Activities and Recreation will create, plan and implement individual and group programs and leisure engagement which meet physical, social, spiritual sensory and effective needs of residents. Recreation Service delivery is in accordance with the residents plan of care. Recreation Leaders are an integral and active member of the interdisciplinary team providing recreation/leisure assessments and care plan.
Responsibilities:
- Assess each resident for interests, talents, and previous patterns of time use, and develops activity plans of care based on that assessment.
- Organize and conduct community outings and special events
- Maintain current knowledge of best practices and awareness of medical contraindications to ensure residents safety and well-being.
- Utilize strong leadership and creativity to motivate and empower others to actively engage in leisure and foster choice and independence.
- Establish and maintain necessary records regarding activities attendance and activities care plans. Develop an activity care plan with other functional care plans.
- Identify facility and community resources that can contribute to the activity care plan.
- Plan and schedule activities and develops a monthly calendar of activities.
- Secure entertainment, program leaders, volunteers, materials, equipment, and transportation, as necessary well in advance of scheduled dates.
- Assure residents are involved in activities
- Train volunteer and activities staff
- Evaluate effectiveness of programs in terms of resident outcomes.
Qualifications
- Experience in a social or recreational program within the last 1 years.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist
- Associates degree in Recreation preferred or related field.
- Long-term healthcare experience
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills needed
- Bilingual
