The Director of Channel Management and Publishing will lead digital publishing operations, content performance analysis/reporting, and assist with the YouTube programming mix development across all Kids and Family Digital Studios’ brands: Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., and AwesomenessTV. The Director will advise/support executive leadership with long-term content development, revenue generation, and audience acquisition opportunities. This role will directly lead all aspects of The Channel Management and community engagement teams of the Kids & Family Digital Studio.
This Director is a functional leader with a particular focus on operations and interdepartmental coordination -- having oversight of technical processes, tools, and general technology that impacts the tracking, publishing, and analysis of digital content. The primary goal is to improve content performance, analysis breadth/quality, and support audience engagement.
The Director will partner with VP, Strategy to implement an organic growth strategy for priority platforms and content channels -- coordinating closely with all programming calendars, creative teams, audience development, analytics groups, content operations, and our external social/YouTube partners. This role may lend support and help inform cross-marketing strategies, content licensing opportunities. Additionally, this Director may engage Ad operations, Paid Media, Piracy, Legal, EICs, Business Affairs, Technology, and International brand teams as needed.
Overview & Responsibilities:
Publishing
Supervise digital content publishing operations, processes, community management, and related teams across the newly expanded Kids & Family Digital Studio brand’s suite of YouTube Channels, AVOD, and social platforms for Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., and AwesomenessTV
Identify content tracking tools, project management solutions - establishing new processes, procedures, and methods in concert with Content Operations that improve content/channel outcomes
Ensure high-quality standards and best practices' implementation concerning new content, channel launches, premium original series with a focus on, platform concerns/challenges opportunities
Engineer new processes to streamline operations, experimentation or lead bandwidth across the team
Collaborate with Content Operations, Audience Develop and Creative teams long-range calendar planning, scheduling, and programming approvals
Partner with Audience Development to formalize and continuously refine content programming mix and publishing cadence(s) that ensure continued growth across the K&F digital portfolio
Investigate emerging platform features/tools to determine viability, use case experimentation and implementation
Lead, mentor, and train direct reports and junior members of Channel Management, Graphic Design, Social publishing, and others as assigned
Performance analysis
Own regular channel and video level performance reporting activities and the Strategic Insights and Analysis workflows
Collaborate across Analytics, Audience Development, and Strategy groups for adhoc analysis
Establish in concert with Analytics, Audience Development, and Strategy portfolio-level critical metrics and pacing goals
Support the development/ideation of long/short-form content with data-backed findings
Cross Departmental Leadership
Collaborate with Viacom Piracy team on content ID strategy and Business development teams on platform monetization strategies for linear and digital content
Track competitive projects, industry trends deals, and maintain awareness of the ever-evolving content marketplace and distributors
Facilitate Channel launch priorities and timing recommendations for 2021 in collaboration with senior leaders and staff
Communicate/Troubleshoot with senior executives regarding strategy, timelines, and direction of key initiatives
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
6 years experience in Publishing on YouTube and/or Digital Distribution
Prior management experience, delivering feedback, coaching, and performance evaluations for at least 4 persons or more
Additional Qualifications:
Deep experience deploying/enhancing content management systems like Airtable, Asana, or Jira
Familiarity with backend Social Platform Analytics tools on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Podcast (i.e. Megaphone, Anchor), and more
Demonstrated ability to acquire and grow audiences on popular kid-focused and pre-teen content platforms
A highly structured, scrappy and resourceful leader able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environments
Demonstrated passion for the latest project management tools
Ability to design and implement content workflows that produce results and maintain high operational performance
Love for calendars and handling content schedules across a variety of platforms
Familiarity with YouTube Kids standard methodologies, COPPA regulations and other unique made-for-kids platform features a plus
Set and monitor monetization policies across YouTube and other platforms
Able to track performance analytics and build comprehensive reports
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with others in a highly matrixed organization
