Job Summary:

The permit technician’s job is to process applications for oversize/overweight vehicles.


Job Responsibilities

  • Order permits for oversize/overweight loads.
  • Secure escorts
  • Coordinate with team on routing.
  • Respond to requests for insurance verification & routing beyond district perimeters.
  • Communicate with company representatives regarding vehicle size & weight limits, permit issuance procedures, permit limitations, permit provisions, etc.
  • Coordinate with utility companies & state officials on oversize load movements.
  • Maintain DOT compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Must pass background check and drug screening.
  • Must be detail oriented.
  • Must be capable of working with different computer programs.
  • 3 years of experience with coordinating, dispatching, or scheduling work.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work 40 hours a week.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • A minimum high school diploma required.
