Job Description

Primary responsible for enhancing cybersecurity posture by maintaining and strengthening systems and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Secondarily, will supplement Network Team and assist with infrastructure projects as well as maintenance and operational activities. Role includes research and development, testing, recommending, installation, maintenance and supporting security solutions.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist or lead various security-related projects
  • Ability to troubleshoot IDS, IPS, firewalls, VPN and Internet Proxy systems
  • Maintain and administer perimeter security standards, documentation, processes and procedures
  • Monitor alarms of perimeter security systems
  • Work with IT support teams concerning perimeter security and related LAN and WAN issues
  • Assist or lead non-security-related projects within the Network Team
  • Mature existing integration of security technologies
  • Provide active involvement (proactive and reactive) in making suggestions to improve existing processes and procedures
  • Provide mentoring, training and assistance, when needed, to Network information security and Support staff
  • Evaluates new network and software products
  • With regard to security, resolve LAN/WAN client/server/application and cross platform support issues through coordination with all staff involved in support and maintenance of applications, systems and infrastructure

Qualifications

Necessary qualifications, skills and abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science OR 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with supporting security technologies in an information security role
  • Experience with site to site VPN tunnels is preferred
  • Experience Monitoring tools (Solar Winds Orion and Microsoft SCOM) is preferred
  • Experience with security and networking architecture
  • Experience creating and maintaining documentation standards and diagramming
  • Experience with mobility management systems is preferred
  • Experience in vulnerability and patch management
  • Consulting Skills: Determining client’s needs, establishing rapport, representing the “source of truth” for the client.
  • Ability to manage time effectively dealing with multiple simultaneous tasks.
  • Technology Evangelizer: Proactively researches and assesses security technology; explores new innovations; early tester of new and emerging technologies.
  • Client Management: Ability to set and manage client expectations within the parameters of the SOW.
  • Analytical Proficiency: Ability to analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
  • Effective Communication: Uses advanced verbal and non-verbal methods of communication to influence customers and colleagues.

Physical demands and work environment

  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data.
