Primary Purpose
Serves as a resource in identifying, planning, and coordinating grant development. Supports submission of grant proposals and applications to include monitoring and tracking timely grant submissions. Develops and prepares metrics and assists with grant programmatic and financial reporting.
Minimum Specifications
Education
- Must have a bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare administration or related field.
Experience
- Must have two years of experience in coordination of grant initiatives such as writing, submitting, planning, and coordinating grant applications and reports.
- Experience with federal, state, and local government/healthcare grants preferred.
Equivalent Education and/or Experience
- May have an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in lieu of specific education and/or experience as stated above.
Skills or Special Abilities
- Effective communication with physicians, hospital personnel, and community collaborators, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment, handling and prioritizing multiple tasks.
- Must be project oriented.
- Proven knowledge of funding information sources.
- Ability to understand, process, and execute complex instructions.
- Working knowledge of Windows-based systems, including Microsoft Office.
- Organizational skills, including the ability to facilitate small group meetings.
Responsibilities
- Serves as a resource person to Parkland staff for grant planning and researching funding opportunities. Acts as liaison between the hospital and grantors and maintains a positive working relationship. Makes recommendations to senior management and program managers/coordinators concerning funding opportunities.
- Review all components of the application for compliance with grant guidelines and instructions. Review grant guidelines and funding opportunities to assess Parkland's ability to comply with requirements.
- Assists with grant writing, plans, and submits grant applications within established time frames and due dates in collaboration with the Grants Management team and program staff.
- Facilitates and monitors timely programmatic and fiscal submissions of grant reporting and other documents.
- Plans, coordinates, and conducts inter-departmental pre-award grant development meetings and post-award debriefings to ensure the conditions of the grant are met.
- Supports the committee overseeing grant activity for Parkland Health, Parkland Foundation, Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation, and the Parkland Community Health Plan.
- Prepares, presents, and/or submits grant reports and correspondence.
- Supports Pre and Post Award Grants Management operations.

- Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
- Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
