Job Summary and Qualifications

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontamination of instruments, sterilization protocols and assembly of surgical instrument sets. He/she consistently adheres to proper sterilization procedures and aseptic technique.

Essential Functions:

• Receives, cleans, processes, assembles and distribute medical supplies, equipment and surgical instruments
• Prepares, assembles and packages all medical equipment and instruments for surgery and other hospital departments
• Sterilizes all reusable equipment, supplies and instrumentation
• Maintains and operates Central Sterile equipment
• Handles, transports and stores sterile equipment, instruments and supplies
• Helps direct the work flow in Central Sterile Supply
• Demonstrates department specific skills and competencies, including high-risk, low-volume and problem-prone competencies
• Attendance: works as scheduled and is compliant with Attendance and Tardiness Policy

Qualifications and Experience:

• Central Sterile Technician Certification (CRCST) required within one year from date of hire
• Central Sterile experience is preferred, but not required. On the job training is provided.
