Salary Range: $45,000 - $48,000

Partners Ending Homelessness seeks a Development Director to complete our administrative team in Guilford County.

Position Summary: Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Director of Development will play a crucial role in securing the necessary resources to support our mission of engaging critical stakeholders to end homelessness in Guilford County.

The Director of Development will be responsible for leading and implementing fundraisers, donor campaigns, and development strategies, as well as assisting with forging key partnerships, writing grants. and cultivating a network of supporters to drive sustainable growth and impact. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, a passion for our cause, and a demonstrated track record of successful fundraising and/or grant writing.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Fundraising Strategy

  • In partnership with the Executive Director, develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization's financial needs and support its growth objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to engage key stakeholders in cultivation activities and solicitation efforts.
  • Develop the case for philanthropic investment in Partners Ending Homelessness (need, program, impact, etc.) and share it with donors in authentic and compelling ways.
  • Oversee all development activities including major gifts, special events, planned giving, prospect research, grant writing, and donor cultivation.
  • Conduct ongoing prospect research to identify new funding opportunities and maintain a robust pipeline of prior, current, and potential donors.
  • Manage the donor management system and processes, prospect research, gift entry and acknowledgment, and donor communications and stewardship.
  • Stay abreast of “new” and best practices regarding donor engagement, acquisition and retention, nonprofit marketing and advertising.

Grant Management

  • Write, assemble and submit letters, budgets, proposals, and supporting documents for annual state, federal, and foundation grants, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements and deadlines.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for funding sources as required.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of funds and financial reporting.
  • Work closely with program staff to gather relevant data and information to strengthen grant applications and reports.
  • Track and report on grant outcomes and impact to donors and funding agencies.

Event Planning

  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, such as the Homerun for Homelessness events, to raise awareness and financial support for the organization's mission.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications partners to promote events and engage participants.
  • Negotiate sponsorships and in-kind donations to maximize support for fundraising events.
  • Identify and engage corporate partners, aligning their social responsibility goals with our organization's mission.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 3 years of frontline fundraising or transferrable experience, with a track record of meeting fundraising goals.
  • Demonstrated success in securing corporate partnerships, grants and major gifts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey the organization's mission compellingly to diverse audiences.
  • Solid writing skills and strong storytelling abilities to motivate the actions of others through writing
  • Attention to detail, deadline-oriented and keen ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and innovative drive to increase philanthropic support.
  • A self-starter with the ability to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.
  • Ability to respect confidential information.
  • Ability to prioritize actions to align with strategic priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills, sensitive to detail and deadlines in a multitasking environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.
  • A reliable, working vehicle as well as applicable insurance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience and demonstrated success in raising annual gifts in the range of $1,000-$50,000 for an institution of higher education, a not for profit, or similar setting.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, cultivate, and generate revenue from individual prospects.
  • Knowledge of nonprofits, electronic data collection and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations.
