Installs and programs security related equipment including access control, analog/IP camera surveillance systems, intercoms, mass notification, integrated security, and other safety/security related panels. Troubleshoots low-voltage systems to identify issue(s) and initiates repair actions or refer to others as appropriate. Orders and tracks needed parts and materials to support the installation and maintenance of low voltage and integrated safety/security system installations and repairs. Monitors the performance of integrated safety and security systems. Utilizes mechanical skill to install, maintain, and adapt a variety of physical security devices to include card readers, pin pads, request to exit devices, sensors, locks, crash bars, electrified hinges, etc. Documents and maintains records for all system notifications and other changes. Collaborates with and assist other team members and vendors regarding automated systems equipment and panels including fire alarm, mass notification, integrated security, access control, analog/IP camera systems surveillance, and other low voltage related panels and associated field devices. Provides training and user support to clients and end users; updates user rights in coordination with security policies and supervisory guidance. Trains other team members in trade. Performs related work as required. Must be able to push and lift up to 50 lbs. Position is not limited to the shop; field work as well as other assignments may be required as necessary.
- Highly knowledgeable of standard practices, techniques, materials, tools, and equipment used in electronic access, analog/IP camera systems, and other low voltage systems.
- Knowledgeable in the maintenance of a wide variety of access control, intercom, and analog/IP camera systems hardware and software. (e.g. Lenel, Axis, HID, Milestone, etc.).
- Knowledgeable in high-security institutional physical and electronic locking systems.
- Knowledge of life safety systems and the integration of those systems with access control systems.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals.
- Ability to read and interpret complex electric and electronic schematics and mechanical layouts during diagnosis and repair of complex electronic equipment.
- Ability to interpret and work from sketches or blueprints.
- Skill in the use of diagnostic tools, hand tools, and shop equipment.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work based on changing needs of the departments to be serviced.
- Ability to use computer and software to log work documentation, hours, materials, parts & work order completion.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and adheres to necessary safety precautions.
- Ability to research and order materials as necessary for locksmithing services.
PHYSICAL SKILLS: Must be able to kneel, bend, stoop, and climb. Must be able to push and lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written, and visual communication.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalency and five (5) years' of progressively responsible experience in installing, testing, maintaining, and operating electronic systems, security systems or other low voltage systems.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license. Low voltage vocational training, Milestone Certified Integration Technician (MCIT) Certification, Lenel OnGuard Fundamentals and Advanced Access Control Certifications, or North American Technician Excellence Certification are highly preferred.
