What you will be doing:
The Controller is responsible for all operational accounting functions. Reporting directly to the VP of Finance, this in-office role will manage day-to-day purchasing, invoicing, payments, process control & implementation, all GL entries, and financial reports.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and distribute complete financial reports to management, investors as required, and update reports for quarterly board meetings
- Manage cash-flow projections, material purchasing, data collection, process controls, and implementation
- Manage the development, implementation and modifications of accounting policies, procedures, and process improvements/best practices
- Create, organize, and maintain files using QuickBooks Online and assist in transition to more enterprise level tool
- Create customer invoices, interact with vendors, issue purchase orders, issue payments, and research problems and provide consistent follow-up
- Review and completes bank reconciliations
- Audit payroll, including entries for taxable benefits, reimbursements, bonuses, and allocation of payments to the GL
- Process wire transfer and international PEO payments
- Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries and reports
- Work on year-end activities & audits
- Assist with the recruitment process; participate in interviews and hiring decisions
- Document and enforce policies, processes, and procedures

You must have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field (Master’s degree and/or CPA valuable)
- 5 years of accounting experience, public accounting firm experience preferred
- Proficiency with multiple accounting tools, including Quickbooks and Netsuite
- Strong quantitative analytical skills
- Ability to analyze and audit data to detect errors
- Well-developed time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to reconcile accounts and perform cost analyses, month-end close responsibilities, etc.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- High level of confidentiality and discretion
- Strong communication skills
You should have:
- Proficiency in Apple software, including Numbers, Pages and Keynote a plus
- Willingness to challenge certain cost assumptions
- Ability to implement new processes or significant enhancements to existing processes
- Experience with accounting and taxes across multiple jurisdictions (U.S. and overseas)
- Outstanding interpersonal and team building skills
