The Quality Leader role is a primary leadership position at P1 Manufacturing, responsible for driving our quality system, influencing a continuous improvement and data-driven culture, and executing a quality vision

and strategy that creates a distinguished value proposition in our market. This position requires a seasoned change agent, with a growth mindset, working closely with the CEO to shape our quality future.

As a small, but growing business, we are seeking Candidates who are both hands-on but can also operate at the strategic level. You must be a data-driven individual with exceptional communication skills and

understand how to influence culture to create value. The Candidate must have deep domain expertise in Lean and continuous improvement, able to drive projects (six sigma methodology preferred), systems and other initiatives to radically improve our quality overall.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Quality Leader (QL) has three primary areas of responsibility. First, they execute our AS9100 quality system across all company divisions, working with functional leaders to drive compliance and keep methods,

work instructions and procedures up to date. Second, the QL will manage our company KPI’s and help drive our continuous improvement and Lean programs, collecting and analyzing data to generate and execute

projects. Third, the QL is a strategic, customer facing leader that helps manage customer critical qualifications and new product/process introductions.

The Quality Leader is a staff leadership position with no direct reports but has the gravitas and communication skills to strongly influence culture and accomplish goals.

Responsibilities include:

Quality System Management (AS9100)

  • Drive compliance across the entire organization (three divisions), including level four audits, management reviews, data collection and analysis, corrective and preventative actions, etc.
  • Lead and coordinate surveillance and re-certification audits with third party registrars.
  • Maintain our quality policy and overall quality strategy.
  • Conduct critical quality training and maintain a compliant environment (gauges, etc).
  • Keep all critical procedures, work instructions and methods up to date, with proper training.
  • Help facilitate safety and preventative maintenance programs across all divisions.

Continuous Improvement

  • Manage company KPI’s and participate in weekly business unit reviews to drive gap closure to expectations and performance.
  • Collect and analyze data from all aspects of the business, kick-off and facilitate Six Sigma projects with functional team participation.
  • Operate as internal Lean/Kaizen champion to drive improvement in all facets of planning, manufacturing and supply chain operations.
  • Help institute a culture of continuous improvement across the business.
  • Drive Quality at the Source and build packages throughout production.

Strategic Customer Quality

  • Work with Engineering, Production and Inspection to design and implement quality programs and processes for specific customers.
  • Help facilitate and improve customer qualifications, and specific customer quality requirements.
  • Conduct customer quality and process audits, as necessary, and act as liaison between customer quality functions and internal operations.
  • Work with the teams to prepare customer performance scorecards and participate in monthly and quarterly customer reviews.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in quality, technical, manufacturing, operations
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory or managerial experience
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Domain expertise on quality system requirements, preferably in the aerospace and defense industries (AS9100)
  • Experience interacting with leadership at customer and/or regulatory organizations. Ability to connect in an authentic, meaningful way with customers and other external constituents.
  • Proven record of accomplishment driving continuous quality improvement in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to influence stakeholders and build trust with customers, managers and team members
  • Strong operating background. Ability to sift through complex information and focus on the critical few priorities.
  • Six Sigma or Lean manufacturing certification. Practical experience with identifying opportunities for and designing changes to processes based on Lean.

Salary info:

$80000 - $120000 / hr
