Job Summary
The grossing technician is an allied health professional who provides anatomic pathology services under the direction and supervision of a certified Pathologists Assistant. The grossing technician contributes to the overall efficiency of the laboratory by performing a variety of tasks, consisting primarily of gross examination of simple surgical pathology specimens.
Major Responsibilities
- Gross examination and preparation of small biopsy and dermatology specimens for histologic processing
- Organizing work areas and cleaning of grossing stations
- Ensuring proper maintenance of equipment
- Replenishing gross room supplies
- Disposal of biological and administrative waste
- Other duties as assigned
