What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at PathGroup?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Supply Clerk, under the direction of the Materials Manager, plans, coordinates, and executes all shipping actions for non-courier out bound shipments; and reviews shipment destination and carrier schedules to optimize the quickest and most cost effective delivery. Coordinates with staff at all levels on shipping related matters as necessary. Compiles reports and cost analysis on shipment spend for manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Using available resources, obtains all information necessary to determine the most cost effective mode of shipment for out bound shipments based upon standard and nonstandard delivery time frames.
- Utilizes the company computer system as well as any carrier provided system or interface to determine best rate/mode for shipment action.
- Ensure each out bound shipment is properly labeled, including any hazardous labels or documentation, to ensure compliance with all DOT, OSHA, carrier, and Federal and State regulations for shipments.
- Proactively tracks shipments and responds to inquiries regarding tracking information.
- Develop and maintain user manuals, training materials, and other documents as assigned.
- Generates and maintains reports and analysis providing updates to management as directed.
- Requisitions, maintains, and inventories all shipping supplies related to the shipment by outside carrier (example FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc).
- Observes date of receipt along with expiration date on supplies so supplies with the shortest date are used first.
- Responsible for receiving, stocking, filling, and sending supplies ordered by clients and phlebotomists that come in throughout the day via fax, email, and inter-departmental mail.
- Physically shelves and rotates stock per department procedure as directed by Department Supervisor/Manager or Lead ensuring rotation of new stock to the back and older stock to the front of the storage area (FIFO methodology).
- Removes, collapses, and disposes of empty boxes, cardboard and packing and places in large cardboard bin in dock area.
- Responsible for disposing of bio hazard materials following strict departmental policies and procedures for such disposal.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Must be familiar with and abide by the Corporate Compliance Program and all Corporate policies, including the Privacy and Security policies.
- Adhere to all safety procedures.
- Normal hours for this position will be Monday through Friday 10:00AM until 6:30PM. Must also be willing to work flexible hours as needed or required.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- One year of prior job related experience preferred.
