What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychologist position at Pathways Academy?
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
The Pathways Academy School Psychologist works closely with other members of the clinical staff to develop and provide a quality treatment and education experience for the students and their families. The position requires flexibility and excellent interpersonal skills both with internal and external educators, clinicians, families and other personnel. The School Psychologist is expected to demonstrate excellent judgment and initiative.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist students with social-pragmatic and social-emotional processing
- Work with students to develop coping strategies and social-pragmatic skills
- Assist with support of students in collaboration with educational clinical team
- Work with educators to provide students with nonjudgmental, positive behavioral supports
- Communicate information with clinical and educational staff members and families as needed
- Complete psychological evaluations, associated reports, and present findings at team meetings
- Contribute to efficient operation of the program and hospital through teamwork and collaboration
- Provide consultation and guidance on psychoeducational topics as needed
- Additional duties as assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed and license eligible encouraged to apply
SKILLS/ ABILITIES/ COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary setting
- Broad range of clinical skills including capacity to develop therapeutic rapport with students and families
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within the system of care
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Master’s Degree, PsyD, or PhD in Psychology or related field; Prior experience with children in a school setting with Autism Spectrum Disorders preferred but not required. We will train!
