Position Title: Skill Builder
Monroe County Skill Building Program
Reporting Relationship:
Reports to the Youth Services Supervisor and/or Manager of Youth Services.
General Summary of Duties:
Plan and provide a variety of activities that are designed to assist a child/youth and families in developing appropriate social/emotional skills necessary to maintain safety and promote success in the home, school and community setting.
Essential Responsibilities or Functions of the Position:
- Complete intake paperwork, consents, and assessments and develop a treatment plan.
- Plan and provide meaningful services to youth with Severe Emotional Disturbance to support the development and retention of identified skills.
- Assess progress towards identified goals.
- Participate in family team meetings with collateral providers as required.
- Will adhere to all Pathway’s, Inc. policies and procedures.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality at all times and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Be punctual, reliable and flexible.
- Communicate effectively with youth, staff, families, and representatives of outside agencies also working with the families.
- Act as a positive role model for all youth, i.e., dress appropriately, use appropriate language, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Youth Services Supervisor or Manager of Youth Services.
Typical Working Conditions:
Normal office environment with client contact in homes, schools and other community settings.
Regular evening hours and weekend work.
Position requires frequent driving.
Exposure category #1 (OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens).
Typical Physical Demands:
Requires sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer, keyboard, copier, telephone, fax machine and other office equipment, as well as to drive a motor vehicle for moderate distances. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of agency policies and procedures. Knowledge of OMH regulations and practices. Knowledge of computer systems and applications. Skill in gathering, interpreting, and reporting information. Skill in written and verbal communication. Ability to exercise initiative, problem-solving, and decision-making. Time management skills are essential in this role. Requires the ability to actively participate in recreational activities approved by program.
Education:
Must be at least 18 years of age, and possess a high school diploma or GED. Associate’s degree in human services or related field preferred.
Experience
One year of experience working with children and/or families in the areas of mental health, addiction and/or foster care is preferred. Must possess a valid/clear driver’s license, insurance and dependable vehicle
Background Check:
Must meet the requirements of the School Age Care, Day Care, and/or Mental Health Regulations regarding a State Central Register Clearance regarding history of abuse/maltreatment of children and Criminal History Review for criminal convictions.
