Patrick Engineering, a RINA company, is seeking a talented CAD Technician to support our transportation division.
Job Summary
The CAD Technician/Designer is responsible for creating, maintaining, and compiling engineering designs drawings and exhibits for client transportation projects. The CAD Technician/Designer will setup base files from survey file and plan sheets using standard Client referencing structure. The individual works with designers on a project team and communicates with the project team members. Operates under minimal supervision; assignments are given in specific terms and are subject to review upon completion, except where tasks are well defined by established standards, policies, and procedures and operate under minimal supervision.
Primary Responsibilities
* Create conceptual and detailed design base files and plans for applications, permits, and construction documents
* Utilize engineering design software to perform tasks per Client standards
* Collect and prepare data/information necessary to ensure design accuracy and compliance with standards, codes, and acceptable practices
* Perform and/or review field survey work and evaluate collected data; communicate with field engineering support and inspection teams as needed
* Other duties as assigned
Professional Requirements
* Associate's Degree in Computer Aided Design or Drafting or equivalent field of study
* Advanced knowledge of Bentley Roadway software and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering (MicroStation, ProjectWise, Open-Roads, Geopak, Civil3D or GIS) desired
* 3-10 years of related experience in the roadway design industry
* Knowledge of IDOT related Standards and common processes and practices
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
