OFFICE ENGINEER
 
Patrick, A RINA Company, is seeking an Office Engineer for a multi-year construction management project in Chicago, Illinois.
The Office Engineer (OE) is a project level position that assists the Construction Manager, Project Manager and/or Resident Engineer with supporting the technical and administrative requirements for all construction field related activities as directed. The Office Engineer primarily focuses on document workflow and control including the recording of, tracking of, and processing of construction related documents using the PMIS system (i.e., e-Builder or similar).  This includes but is not limited to processing and tracking construction submittals and RFIs, coordinating responses with the Designer of Record(s), Client stakeholders and Contractor(s) as required, maintenance of tracking logs, preparing meeting minutes, and upkeep of the record set of Contract Documents.  The OE is the “gatekeeper” of all construction related correspondence and project record documentation method of construction. 
 
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develop and distribute meeting minutes.
  • Assist construction manager, project manager, resident engineer, and team leadership in various administrative tasks.
  • Process design and construction submittals and track review status
  • Read and interpret complex plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Process, track, and report on Requests for Information
  • Assist Resident Engineers to process, track, and report on NCRs, PCOs, DCRs, project issues, and other project-related processes.
  • Ensure data is current in Project Management Information System so team members are accessing the most relevant information.
  • Maintain organized and detailed project records.
  • Prepare and support executive level and team level reporting and presentation materials.
  • Read and comprehend contract documents.
  • Oversee project closeout process.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical, or business-related area of study
  • 2 years of professional work experience
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and best practices
  • Construction Management experience a plus
  • Strong oral and written communication skills needed to communicate with all levels of the organization, client, and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel to client site and/or field office
