The Accounting Intern will have the opportunity to gain exposure to accounting tasks in the areas of accounts payable and accounts receivable. They will work with various members of the accounting staff, operations team, and senior leadership. This internship is ideal for applicants wanting to learn more about various aspects of accounting functions within the workplace.
Focus: Project based activities.
Duration: 10-12 weeks
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $12.00/hour
Responsibilities Include:
- Daily review, validation, coding, entry, log, and payment of vendor and subcontractor invoices to correct jobs/accounts
- Accurately review, validate, and log all vendor/subcontractor requests for material purchases
- Allocation of costs using Excel spreadsheets
- Effectively communicate & follow-up with operations staff about invoice approvals for jobs
- Accurate and timely reconciliation of vendor and credit card statements
- Preparation of subcontractor lien waivers
- Accurately maintain the accounting documents and filing system
- System Process Improvements: work with team to review accounting processes to develop and implement process improvements
- Assist with accounts receivable invoicing and invoice follow up
- Assist with accounts receivable cash receipts identification/logging, file maintenance
- Other tasks as assigned
Requirements Include:
- Current college student studying accounting or business with a concentration in accounting – ideally someone who has completed their sophomore or junior year or recent graduate
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and a working knowledge of MS Office programs: Word & Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and extremely organized
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies
- Highly proficient with organization of electronic files
- Strong math/reconciliation skills
- Creative analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment; yet flexible
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Professional, positive, and optimistic attitude
- Reliable and dependable
