Job Summary
The Jr. Visual Merchandiser will assist in making sure that all U.S Window and Interior Displays for retail and wholesale are executed and organized following directives from US VM Manager and Head of VM. The role will ensure that the brand image is coherent across the US market and complementary to the season’s collections and message.
Responsibilities
- Execute concepts for all U.S. Visuals following guidelines from HQ. Assist with visual presentations, including window displays and floor sets for retail and wholesale while partnering with the creative and buying teams.
- Create window mockups, interior floor plans, signage and manipulate artwork using Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop.
- Document/Photograph all window displays and interiors and create relevant archive reporting.
- Assist in maintaining relationships and source vendors for production needs by phone, and regular meetings to discuss specifics on production and pricing.
- Assist with implementing monthly window displays for special events that appropriately reflect season themes as required for events and product launches.
- Partner with VM Manager to plan, create and order specialty product displays.
- Participate in conferences and meetings with the U.K, U.S. Visual Teams, Buyers and Retail Management to execute Visual Merchandising/Branding Directives with US Retail and Wholesale Teams.
- Manage and control stock of visual merchandising aids including, mannequins, furniture, fixtures, display props, hangers, materials, hardware, and accessories.
- Stay current on relevant cultural events locally and globally by attending exhibitions and events where Paul Smith Shops are located. Relay information to MV Manager and HQ Teams for visual inspiration.
- Act as a brand ambassador by representing the brand’s creative initiative at in-shop events, market appointments and vendor/supplier meetings.
- Any other reasonable duties requested by VM Department Heads.
Retail
- Regularly visit all U.S. shops to update window displays and interior space within required timeframes.
- Ensure the window displays for all U.S. stores are set to Paul Smith standards under guidance from the Head of Display and Retail Management.
- Assist with all new shop openings, refits, and general maintenance in the U.S. Work with Shop Design team to ensure all visual displays are ordered and visual directives are adhered to.
- Assist with developing and coaching Shop Management and Associates on internal visual merchandising guidelines and skills and identify specific training needs.
Wholesale
- Assist in planning and implementing Showroom Visual Merchandising Initiatives for each wholesale market.
- Monitor and assist Wholesale Accounts in the US and Canada with VM directives.
- Coordinate special projects and installations with Wholesale Accounts as needed.
- Coordinate and monitor travel to wholesale accounts to meet the VM needs of their respective businesses.
- Assist with set up for new Wholesale Accounts, refits and general maintenance of departments to ensure all visual displays are on brand and visual directives are adhered to.
Essential Experience and Skills Required:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in VM execution and implementation within luxury RTW.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Windows Office.
- Comfortable using basic hand and power tools, using ladders, lifting items in excess of 30 pounds, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Interested in current trends across culture- fashion, art, architecture, etc.
- Able to accommodate occasional weekend work and long hours.
- Able to complete administrative and operational tasks pertaining to VM and the needs of the business- read reports, keep prop inventory, assemble research, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable speaking to all levels within the organization.
- Must be based in NYC area and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Salary : $48,400 - $61,200
