Position Information:
This position is responsible for providing digital instruction where students have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and psychological growth and for organizing and implementing an instructional program that results in students achieving academic success in accordance with district and state policies and laws. This position will instruct students online while maintaining a presence in the local school building where they can collaborate with other staff and support the school environment in their role as a teacher.
Qualifications:
Must be certified or eligible for certification in one or more content areas
Duties & Responsibilities:
Ability to provide virtual instruction, assessing and encouraging student progress
Communicates effectively via email, online discussion boards, telephone, and video conferencing
Ability to manage an online learning environment, complying with state and district level regulations and policies
Teach at an appropriate instructional level
Knowledge of curriculum and instructional best practices for online learning
Exhibit knowledge of standards-based curriculum and instructional programs and practices
Provide virtual and academic content development
Assist all students in achieving academic standards and establishing high expectations for performance
Promote student engagement and provide appropriate assessments
Monitor student progress
Respond to adequate and inadequate student performance
Support students with encouragement
Use time efficiently
Maintain effective physical setting for instruction
Maintain appropriate student behavior in the classroom (online)
Follow professional practices consistent with school and district policies in working with students, student records, parents, and colleagues
Ensure adherence to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia, as established by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission
Research-based exemplary practices in curriculum, instruction, virtual learning, and assessment
Integrate the use of technology and multi-media in the online classroom
Follow work scheduling and attendance requirements in a regular, predictable, and punctual manner
Participate in training programs and apply concepts learned in the classroom to increase student learning
Follow federal and state laws, as well as Board policies
Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in the Virtual Instruction Program in written and oral form, including electronic media, using positive interpersonal skills
Highly skilled at implementing exemplary educational practices resulting in demonstrated student achievement gains
Ability to build positive relationships with students and stakeholders in a digital environment
Participation in school events, student supervision, and other duties as assigned by school administration
Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out duties efficiently and within established timeframes
Ability to use effective strategies in differentiating instruction
Demonstrate operational knowledge of Internet and Web-related technologies
Ability to establish and maintains cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers
Demonstrate effective data-based problem-solving skills and data driven instruction
Skilled in the use of District platforms (ie. Canvas, etc.)
Coordinates with district staff to provide intervention, IEP accommodations and differentiation in an online environment
Facilitates synchronous live sessions for tutoring or lesson delivery
Adhere to all district virtual learning protocols
Other duties as assigned by the principal or immediate supervisor
Salary: State base pay plus local supplement based on degree and number of years experience
