Pawnee Mental Health Services Salary
Manhattan, KS Full Time
POSTED ON 5/18/2024

Please note, current or past life experience as a caretaker of a child with a serious emotional disturbance is required. Providing "Parent Support" requires someone to have that life experience themselves. If you want to help others who have children seeking treatment this may be the perfect job for you.

Position is also eligible for a bonus of $2000 quarterly ($8,000 yearly) by meeting client care expectations.

Who We Are

At Pawnee Mental Health, we take a great deal of pride in the services we offer, and the progress made by those we serve. All employees, regardless of their role, are an important part of our success! To help us achieve our mission, we’re looking for bright and talented people with great ideas. We believe individuals and families with mental health and/or substance use challenges should have the opportunity to lead normal, productive lives at home and in their communities. If you feel the same, we invite you to explore the opportunity below to see how you can make a difference!

We look forward to reviewing your application!

What We Offer

Pawnee is proud to offer a full range of benefits to all our full-time staff!  We offer a full range of health, dental, and vision insurance through the State of Kansas, as well as an excellent retirement plan through KPERS. We are also proud to provide competitive wages, generous paid time off (12 days PTO your first year!), and several voluntary benefits like ambulance and disability insurance, among others.

The Role You Play

As a Parent Peer Support Provider, you will use your unique experiences with a child with a serious emotional disturbance to support others currently experiencing similar conditions. You will assist the parents and family members of our youth clients by sharing your own experiences – what worked for you and what didn’t, and any coping strategies you may have developed.

  • The Day-to-Day
    1. Engage the child’s family members and other caretakers by providing training and support related to parenting and relationship building
    2. Use personal, lived experience to provide ideas and support to families
    3. Facilitate and support engagement of clients, their families and other caretakers in their care plans
    4. Encourage families to network with other families in similar situations to build a support network and knowledge regarding treatment/coping strategies
    5. Ensure that services provided are part of a client’s documented treatment plan
  • Other Duties as Assigned
    1. Advocate for client rights and community integration
    2. Meet documentation requirements in a timely manner
    3. Drive to community settings to provide services or meet program needs

Who You Are

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, flexible, and enjoys working independently with the support of a care team. You should have a passion for helping people and the creativity to develop individual and group activities for your clients.

  • Required
    1. Must be at least 21 years of age, high school diploma or equivalent required
    2. MUST have current or past life experience as a parent or caregiver of a child/children with a serious emotional disturbance
