Job Summary
The Content Creator is the organization’s storyteller, the voice for homeless and at-risk pets. Through words, photos, video, and sound they capture PAWS Chicago’s No Kill mission in action, and the stories they tell create and deepen the emotional bond between PAWS Chicago’s supporters and the organization. They bring the PAWS Chicago brand to life.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Write marketing and communications materials, and gather and edit storytelling components (photos, videos, updates, quotes) that are critical to our mission communications.
- Ensure all PAWS Chicago content is on brand, consistent in style, quality and voice.
- Responsible for developing strategy, copywriting and capturing & editing content for all digital channels including social media platforms, website, email, and programmatic advertising.
- Responsible for growing PAWS Chicago’s social-media channels, measured by the amount of content published, when and how people engage with the channel, which content gets the most interaction, and how users respond to any brand messages.
- Understand social media metrics and use the information to ensure the social media strategy is achieving its goals.
- Create monthly reports tracking digital media performance; develop and track monthly Key Performance Indicators.
- Create calendar for social and web content in support of PAWS programs that rely on community engagement (adoption, volunteers, fosters, events).
- Produce, film and edit videos, including internal communications, onboarding, and training videos.
- Create and test donation campaigns on social media sites following industry best practices.
- Build online relationships to connect PAWS to influencers (individuals or companies) that can advance the PAWS Chicago mission.
- Proactively monitor and address customer feedback, grievances, and trends across online social and review platforms.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement reputation management strategies.
- Manage a volunteer team of content creators who assist with writing, capturing, and editing photographic and video assets, developing strategies and tactics to increase engagement, and grow PAWS Chicago’s digital following.
- May need to work some nights and weekends.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Passion for animals and animal welfare
- Researching, writing, reporting, and/or related social media activities.
- Knowledge of English grammar and usage appropriate for professional communications. Strong writing skills.
- Knowledge of social media and reputation management principles and practices.
- Experience in photography and video shooting & editing required.
- Ability to conduct proactive research and gather information from websites, written materials, and interviews conducted via e-mail, phone, or other means.
- Ability to set priorities and effectively juggle many tasks simultaneously. Ability to track and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle responsibilities and relationships both within PAWS and among stakeholders with poise, tact, resourcefulness and flexibility.
- Excellent skills in Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint) are required.
