Responsibilities:
- Provide care and companionship to pets in their own homes or in a pet sitting facility
- Feed, walk, and exercise pets according to their specific needs
- Administer medications or treatments as directed by pet owners or veterinarians
- Clean and maintain pet areas, including litter boxes, cages, and kennels
- Monitor pets for any signs of illness or distress and report any concerns to the pet owner or veterinarian
- Provide basic grooming services such as brushing, bathing, and nail trimming
- Follow instructions from pet owners regarding specific care routines or behavioral training
- Provide updates to pet owners on the well-being and activities of their pets during their absence
Requirements:
- Previous experience in animal care, such as working at a veterinary clinic, animal shelter, or pet sitting service
- Knowledge of proper animal handling techniques and understanding of animal behavior
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and breeds, including those with special needs or behavioral issues
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as heavy lifting (e.g., lifting large dogs), walking dogs for extended periods of time, and cleaning pet areas
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners and address their concerns or requests
- Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the needs of clients, including weekends, holidays, and overnight stays if required
Note: Equine experience is a plus but not required for this position.
