Senior Accounts Payable Specialist

Overview Under limited supervision from the Accounts Payable Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for the timely processing and audits of invoices, check requests and expense reports. Responsibilities Audits, codes, and enters such items as invoices, expense reports, check requests and uploads into applicable financial system to ensure accurate sub-ledger data feeds to the general ledger. Protects the organizations value by verifying the accuracy and completeness of records and transactions based on Company and departmental policies. Receives, researches, and resolves a variety of routine internal and external inquiries concerning account status, including communicating the resolution of discrepancies to appropriate person. Generates, reviews and distributes reports to ensure accuracy of data and compliance with both Paychex policies and Sarbanes Oxley, Reconciles and analyzes data within designated group to ensure financial and quality standards are met. Trains new employees and cross-trains existing employees on daily and department operational functions to ensure that technical skills are transferred consistently. Embodies Paychex values and leadership competencies to model behavior for Accounts Payable and partners. Develops understanding of Oracle payables, iexpense and AP Automation processes including ability to troubleshoot system issues. Writes, reviews and maintains department procedures to ensure procedures are up to date and accurate. Prepares and engages in monthly team and department meetings to ensure continued technical and self-development. Completes audits in compliance with Internal and External reporting requirements. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Accounting/Business/Finance 2 years of experience in Work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
