About the role: Where Brand Meets Demand
As the Vice President of Marketing at Payscale, you will be accountable for leading our high performing marketing team and setting Marketing strategy for the company in close collaboration with Sales, Customer and Product organizations. This leader will report to the President and COO.
You will oversee the planning, development, execution and measurement of all demand generation, product marketing, thought leadership, content and organic channels (including payscale.com, PR, social and events) as well as the evolution of the Payscale story, brand and visual ID to ensure it resonates with customers and partners and is easily articulated and amplified by the entire organization.
You will also work closely with the People team and internal communications to ensure our messaging to the market is reflected back to our employees with best practice compensation management and motivate employees through our successes in building the compensation category.
You will also have the opportunity to drive our partner relationships, including Angel City Football Club, which was also founded on the principles of fair pay and equity to reinforce the Payscale brand and unique dataset.
As a leader of both the company and the Marketing organization you will be responsible for reinforcing and modeling our values, demonstrating how to balance a bias for action with data driven decision making for your peers, managers and the broader team while creating a supportive and inclusive culture.

- Make a direct impact on revenue through customer and prospect engagement with Payscale, its products, and its brand to accelerate the sales and renewal process
- Drive clarity on how Payscale messaging and positioning is represented in the market

Drive the vision and oversee efforts across all marketing functions:
- Lead with empathy to empower a high performing, collaborative team of cross functional marketers, creating a climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining and developing a diverse group of top talent who feel safe to continuously learn from each other to improve performance.
- Represent Marketing as the executive leader of the function at the company and within the GTM group, developing results driven marketing strategies, initiatives and priorities for company growth and optimizing data and analytics to chart and report on continuous progress and ROI
- Demand generation; Partner with Sales and Revenue Operations to continuously develop, maintain and analyze a robust funnel for our sellers to meet business growth and revenue objectives, focused on customer needs by role, segment, function and industry.
- Product Marketing; Work closely with the product group to ensure implementation of product messaging and positioning strategy, facilitate customer first, successful go-to-market strategies for new products and improvements to the existing portfolio, know competitors and buyer personas better than anyone and backing up strategic insights with market evidence.
- Thought Leadership/Content: Create compelling original content which spotlights Payscale’s unique data and strategic understanding of compensation including macro-economic factors and the jobs that organizations need to complete to be successful which feeds demand gen and organic channel engines.
About You: Experience
- Mission driven- passionate about getting pay right for all
- Marketing Leadership: 10 years of experience managing cross functional marketing teams.
- A deep understanding SaaS B2B (ideally HR tech) in partnership with sales leadership.
- Highly analytical; able to make data driven decisions and establish effective metrics to approach marketing strategy and ROI within budget
- Execution focused -not afraid to take on the heavy lifting, demonstrating a bias for action
- Customer centric- Eager to engage deeply with the product with a customer mindset
- Change Agent- Able to manage change in a fast moving and constantly evolving market
- Supreme collaborator- Can easily gain alignment across peers and functions to move important initiatives forward, collectively remove obstacles and support teams to drive priorities.
- Executive level communication and presentation skills
Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $216,000 - $324,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for an annual corporate bonus of 35%. If you are hired at Payscale, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider any internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
