What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Inspector position at PBF Energy?
This position will be responsible for the equipment within their assigned area(s). The Inspector shall comply with current procedures, standards and jurisdictional codes to ensure compliance and to ensure the mechanical integrity of the fixed equipment within the area of responsibility.

- Review SAP daily to ensure all inspection tasks in work plans are completed as scheduled.
- Ensure all equipment internal, external, CUI and internal corrosion monitoring inspections are started by the due date to ensure compliance. Inspection of fixed equipment includes, but not limited to, heaters, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, boilers, piping, etc.
- Coordinate inspection activities for their assigned area(s) and communicate issues to the Inspection Superintendent and complex team members as necessary.
- Review repair/engineering scopes for work to be performed in area. Create and approve Inspection and Test Plans and Piping System Inspection and Repair (PSIR) forms, as required.
- Follow-up each repair or replacement job with a review of the completed design and quality documentation to ensure compliance with jurisdictional and company technical and quality requirements. Have inspection drawings updated and final packages placed into Meridian within the asset file.
- Enter notes into the Inspection Data Management System as appropriate.
- Attend Complex team meetings, provide support to Complex team and maintenance based on findings. Act on findings when a failure or near failure is identified.
- Review the results of any internal or external visual inspections completed in area to ensure that any concerns are properly addressed.
- Complete management of change (MOC) PTD’s as required.
- Complete and sign off Leak Repair Forms and associated MOC’s as needed.
- Witness Hydro pressure tests for the area conducted in support of repairs or alterations.
- Conduct and document routine scheduled external visual inspections in area including those for pressure vessels, process piping, and relief devices.
- Conduct and properly document routine scheduled internal visual inspections in area.
- Initiate IWR’s including findings and inspector recommended scope in the Inspection Data Management System and SAP, as required. Close with appropriate comments all resolved IWR’s.
- Perform internal and external inspections of equipment during turnarounds or other process unit outages.
- Regularly review all open IWRs in area and review with appropriate members of Complex Team.
- Perform Level 1 Fit for Service evaluations per API 510, API 570 and API 653.
- Work with the Reliability Engineer to ensure requested information is provided for Fitness for Service evaluations.
- Conduct periodic general walkthroughs in assigned units to maintain equipment condition familiarity and to identify any equipment conditions changes.
- Must be willing to work overtime and cover any shift required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- API 510/570 certification required.
- 10 years of experience as a fixed equipment inspector required. Refinery experience preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable codes, including, but not limited to: ASME Section VIII, B31.3, API 510, API 570, API 653 and API 580/581 preferred.
- Prior SAP experience a plus.
