What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Manager position at PCE Inc?
SUMMARY: Directs, coordinates, and exercises functional authority for Quality Management System including ISO Registration, Documentation and Compliance, Quality Education System, First Article Inspections, Operator Training and Corrective Actions (internal and external). Coordinate and document quality requirements for contract manufacturer and OEM’s. Lead, train and guide quality and production personnel on quality related job functions and issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and maintain a quality management system in compliance with corporate directives.
- Schedule internal audits as required to comply with quality management system requirements
- Review, audit, train, and provide direction to the function of ISO certification and compliance.
- Create & control Work Instructions, Quality Plans, and other controlled documents
- Prepare & distribute necessary paperwork and gauging to shop floor and inspection personnel.
- Review and approve documents and paperwork for completeness and accuracy.
- Compile and file batch records in accordance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain filing system for manufacturing, inspection, and training records.
- Use specialized Quality knowledge to coordinate and initiate new quality methods to meet current and future customer requirements, planned corporate objectives, and improved production capabilities and standards.
- Review customer and sales problems/requests, to evaluate technical solutions to product performance in the field. Initiate studies and testing to gather data for production evaluations.
- Review blueprints, drawings, and quotations of products to monitor, analyze and react to requirements.
- Instruct and follow up on information and documentation of statistics and reporting for database programs
- Work with manufacturing to review pre- and post-production process variables, problem areas, required inspection tooling, and required documentation.
- Control non-conformance both externally and internally including material non-conformance. Initiate, implement, and verify corrective actions. Coordinate and organize any product sorting to be completed.
- Manage ISO requirements and corrective actions for inspection and testing, inspection measuring and test equipment, inspection and test status and control of quality records.
- Work with manufacturing to reduce inspection and increase operator/setup involvement in the quality improvement process.
- Adheres to quality and safety systems or maintenance of quality and safety standards.
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, cGMP and other related QMS standards
- Ability to calibrate, maintain, and use precision measuring instruments and inspection/lab equipment
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong Troubleshooting Skills.
- Project Management Proven Skills
- Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt and TPS or Lean Manufacturing Principles preferred.
- MSOffice, ERP systems experience.
- Data Driven Individual.
- Willingness to work overtime as necessary to meet customer expectations for delivery and quality.
- Ability to lift up to 40lbs.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Two-year technical degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years related experience in Quality and/or Manufacturing
- Two plus years in Management and working with Quality systems.
