Job Summary

The Technical Writer I will work closely with subject matter experts to develop, organize, and write procedure manuals, technical specifications, and process documentation. This position is contingent upon contract award; notification of status is expected by or on 8/15/22.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Interpret electrical and mechanical drawings for use in the development of maintenance and repair procedures utilizing designated test equipment and tools
• Prepare structured documentation—including technical manuals, illustrated parts breakdowns, technical bulletins, and other technical data—aligned with customer provided standards and requirements (Especially TM86-01X and applicable Mil-STDs as well as other contract data
• Participate in customer reviews, validations (certifications) and verifications
• Provide training and leadership to junior technical writers
• Monitor compliance and provide continuous improvement to Quality processes and procedures (QMS)
• Adhere to Configuration Management principles and processes

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the contract required level
• US Citizenship is required for clearance
• Associate degree or at least 1 year of experience
• Must have 3 years’ experience in aviation-related technical background
• Working knowledge and proven performance of quality management techniques, and inspection
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Experience with MS Office, especially MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• QMS certifications helpful (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
• Aviation Quality experience
• Must be a self-starter, team orientated, and able to interact with other team members as well as program management, contracts, engineering and logistics specialists to prepare technical publications and work towards deadlines
• Ability to travel if necessary

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described herein are representative of those which must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Employees must possess the ability to work in a standard office or conference room setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer.

To visit other company sites, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle and fly in an aircraft, both of which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time. Employees must possess vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas will be required. This position requires an employee to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance; reach, push, and pull drawers and doors open and closed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
