What are the responsibilities and job description for the Early Childhood Teacher position at Peachtree Academy?
The ideal candidate will serve as the lead teacher which includes working with children to provide a safe and nurturing environment for social and academic growth. Other preschool experience is a plus and future opportunities for growth are available. Longevity matters and making sure that we hire staff members who are dedicated to educating the students in their class is very important to us! Duties
- Create and maintain a developmentally appropriate learning environment.
- Become familiar with and incorporate best practices from Quality rated and NAEYC standards of Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
- Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
- Contribute/create ideas and projects for weekly lesson plans.
- Follow written and oral instructions of parents and center administrators.
- Assume immediate responsibility for children in assigned classrooms.
- Attend to children’s basic needs including feeding, dressing, and changing diapers when appropriate.
- Enforce all health and safety policies, including:
- Proper hygiene and hand washing
- Cleaning, sanitation, and disinfecting of equipment and toys
- Classroom and playground safety
- Security procedures and emergency preparedness and evacuations
- Arrange indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.
- Enforce rules for behavior to maintain order in the classroom.
- Provide daily parent communication (written and verbal).
- Assessing children’s development and incorporating activities that meet individual needs and interests.
- Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and discuss them with the Director.

Requirements
Must meet requirements for being Group Leader Qualified by the State of Georgia Dept. of Human Services. Minimum of two year of experience working with children in early childhood programs and CDA/Associates Degree. If working in the Infant classroom must hold current certification in First Aid and CPR.

Physical ability to frequently bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds. Possess a sound knowledge of the procedures and regulations specific to the care and education of infants and children.
