Position Summary
The press operator/driver is required to support plant operations through solids handling and transportation. This position is required to hold and maintain a CDL.
Essential Duties
· May be required to operate solids handling equipment including the belt filter press.
· Coordinates with Treatment System Supervisor on press schedule.
· Performs routine safety checks on truck fleet (dump trucks used for sludge hauling).
· Coordinates the maintenance schedule on the dump truck fleet.
· Maintains the cleanliness of the dump truck fleet – inside and out.
· Delivers loads of sludge to designated final disposal as needed for proper plant operation.
· Maintains manifests from final disposal site.
· Complies with all local, state and federal laws regarding proper handling and transportation of municipal biosolids.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The qualifications listed below represent the credentials necessary to perform the essential functions of this position. To be successful in this position, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily.
· Education and/or Experience. High School diploma and three to five years directly related experience. Must maintain a CDL License.
· Supervisory Controls. This position does not supervise any other position. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills. Must be able to follow specific instructions and complete work in a timely manner. Work is performed independently.
Working Conditions
· Physical Demands. The work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing; walking over rough or difficult surfaces; recurring stooping, climbing, or walking; recurring lifting of objects weighing in excess of 25 pounds, and occasional lifting of objects weighing in excess of 75 pounds. The work may require specific physical abilities such as mobility and dexterity.
· Work Environment. The work is performed in both office and field environments. Field work can be in adverse conditions, including weather/temperature extremes, wind, rain and high noise volume. Occasional exposure to untreated water/wastewater, chemicals and electrical systems used in plant operations. The work may be in an environment involving everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions. The employee may be required to use protective clothing or equipment such as masks, coats, boots, goggles, gloves, or shield.

Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. Minimum requirements include the qualifications and experience as stated on the job announcement, as well as a valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License and satisfactory MVR.
