Position: Design / New Product Development Engineer - Atlanta

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Engineer with a strong background in mechanical / electro-mechanical engineering to join our team. This position is primarily responsible for the “program” & “resource” management of the Company’s new products that are scheduled for market introduction in 2024/’25. The successful candidate will also manage the on-site test lab to ensure product compliance to the intended design & performance specification. In addition, the role will manage and coordinate internal resources and 3rd party / outsourced service-providers to help build functional prototypes to test in-house and validate product design concepts. The successful candidate will also oversee the complete lifecycle of our existing products www.peachtreefoods.com and all “new products” in our robust New Products pipeline. This will include collaborating and participating in all engineering design team meetings, actively participating in all outsourced manufacturing dialog, coordinating in-house/outsourced prototyping for concept validation testing, developing robust “application-based reliability testing” processes and overseeing the ongoing product QA testing (i.e. life testing, test-to-fail, destruction testing etc.)


Primary duties and responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the design engineering team to contribute in the electro-mechanical design our innovative commercial Foodservice products. 
  • Oversee and coordinate outsourced manufacturing partners, ensuring products meet our mechanical and electrical standards and performance specifications. 
  • Conduct comprehensive in-house mechanical and electrical testing of machines to ensure functionality, reliability, and safety compliance. 
  • Develop and implement stringent QA protocols, addressing both mechanical and electrical aspects, to identify and rectify defects or areas for improvement. 
  • Provide input in both mechanical and electrical engineering to support internal teams and external 3rd party OEM partners. 
  • Work with relevant compliance and approvals authorities (e.g. UL, NSF, CE, NOM etc.) to help obtain the necessary approvals for our products.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends in mechanical and electrical engineering, new materials, and manufacturing technologies. 
Experience/Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Five years of experience in product design and manufacturing, with a strong emphasis on mechanical and/or electrical engineering, preferably in kitchen appliances or related industries. 
  • Proven track record in overseeing outsourced manufacturing and conducting in-house product testing for electro-mechanical products. 
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Ability and willingness to roll up sleeves and get hands-on
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively. 
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. 
  • Ability to read (and potentially edit) CAD files (Currently using Solidworks)
  • Strong working knowledge and extensive experience using Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience managing program management / project tracking tools (i.e. Gantt charts)
