Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Biller to join our team. As a Medical Biller, you will be responsible for accurately coding and billing medical claims, ensuring timely reimbursement for services provided. Your expertise in medical terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures will be essential in this role. Duties: - Review and analyze medical records to determine appropriate coding and billing procedures - Assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems - Prepare and submit electronic or paper claims to insurance companies - Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, resolving any billing discrepancies - Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing issues - Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations - Update patient accounts with accurate billing information - Verify insurance eligibility and coverage for patients - Process payments from insurance companies and patients - Assist with medical collections as needed Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Medical Billing or related field preferred - Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or coding - Proficient in medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10), and billing procedures - Knowledge of medical office systems and electronic health records (EHR) - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes - Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding is a plus Join our team as a Medical Biller and contribute to the efficient operation of our healthcare facility.
