R&D Analytical Services – Lab Technician
This technician will perform routine analytical testing, preparation of glass, and maintain the equipment used in both XRF and physical labs. This person must have a working knowledge of analytical procedures including a basic understanding of analytical terminology. She/he must have the ability to follow SOPs, as well as compliance standards and safety practices.

She/he must have the ability to follow SOPs, as well as compliance standards and safety practices.
Other duties include:
- Safely processing and analyzing samples, accurately and efficiently
- Ability to maintain all types of instruments for glass physical test and make sure that the instruments are ready for analysis as needed
- Performing data entry, handling and sampling of chemical specimens and preparing analytical reports, as needed
- Willingness to learn / cross-train
- Preparing and validating reagents in labs, such as the preparation of slurry
- Being able to do simple instrument maintenance
- Other duties as appropriate for this position
- Aptitude and willingness to do hands-on laboratory work, make observations/draw conclusions and accurately organize/document results in spreadsheets/reports
- Proficient with Microsoft Windows, MS Office software
- Ability to accurately organize, enter and present data in MS Office products
- Ability to work independently without frequent/close supervision
- Must be a team player
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Adherence to safe work practices and compliance with all environmental, health, safety and security protocols as specified by Vitro personnel or documented procedures.
- Aptitude and willingness to continually learn and expand skill set
- Be able to lift more than 30 pounds
Additional Desirable Skills :
- Experience in writing lab reports
- Experience with analytical techniques: chemical analysis, density test, and other lab experience highly preferred
- Prior experience with laboratory information management system (LIMS) software highly preferred
- Minimum – Bachelor of Science/Engineering Degree or equivalent in physics, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics, engineering technology
