The Fulfillment Channel Strategy junior role will provide expertise and direction across the entire Ahold Delhaize Omni-channel fulfillment portfolio , including warerooms, warehouses and Pick From Store locations as the subject matter expert for being on the cutting edge of e-commerce. Be the resource SME available to the brands to partner and consult on the improvement of processes and technology that drive efficiency and enable capacity growth.
This role will function as supporting the Product Owner function of their specific fulfillment channel (either Pick From Store, Central Fulfillment or Last Mile), supporting the strategic development and business improvement of stand-alone projects or individual elements of their channel focused on broadening capabilities that meet PDL’s and ADUSA Brand’s fulfillment requirements. This includes business processes as well as the supporting business systems required to enable those processes.
Channel development will be focused on meeting growing customer demand and ever-evolving customer expectations across all brands through enhancing channel capabilities and improving its customer value proposition. Simultaneously, systems and processes within the channel should be optimized such that fulfillment execution will be the most efficient and productive as it can be while adhering to CVP expectations.
This role will support the development of a strategic vision for their channel aligned with the ADUSA omni-channel strategy, sourcing input from counterparts within PDL and the brands on individual projects or topics relevant to the channel. They are responsible for communicating about those topics to the different cross functional stakeholders. They will support developing a roadmap for prioritization, development and implementation of proposed improvements of IT systems, processes, practices, etc. relevant to the projects or topics inside the channel that they carry responsibility for, leveraging the Strategic Implementation and/or Continuous Improvement teams, or other teams within the Fulfillment Strategy & Services department, as well as counterparts within Product and IT Business Systems Development. They will support influencing and driving change across all brands, and the different aspects of the brand operations that the channel will be integrated with (e.g. Store Operations, Supply Chain, Transportation).
Recipe for Success - What's “in store” for the role
- Responsible for a portion of the overall Channel Development priority list and development budget
- Collaborate, influence, and share subject matter expertise with cross-functional teams through the director level (Marketing, Merchandising, Operations, Space Planning, IT, Analytics, etc.) to translate Customer Value Proposition and efficiency drivers into business needs and proposed improvements
- Support the development of business cases and analytics for an appropriately prioritized roadmap for development and implementation, and support the alignment with IT business systems appropriately
- Work with development teams and technical leads to determine scope and priorities for system development cycles for specific topics or projects within the channel as delegated by their leader
- Work with cross-functional teams within PDL and the ADUSA brands to acquire input into desired changes and discuss possible approaches and solutions through the Director level
- Aid the development of appropriately detailed specifications for system requirements so they are clearly understood by IT development teams, by leveraging IT Business Systems Product Owners through the Manager III level
- Collaborate with the development teams to deliver innovative and exciting solutions
- Act as an ambassador for the channel internally and as a contact for queries related to specific topics or projects within the channel primarily through the Manager III level
- Deliver key messages to stakeholders on project deploys and escalate issues accordingly to their leader
- Interpret and seek subject matter expert when needed for standard legal, compliance, and business rules during program design and development
- Takes the initiative to keep both own skills up to date and to maintain an awareness of developments in the retail and IT industry, and mentors Channel Specialists where applicable
- Create and maintain relationships with 3rd party resources on cutting edge equipment, best practices, and other industry trends
- Facilitate ongoing partnerships between vendors, internal sourcing teams, purchasing teams, and the brands throughout the continued evolution of the channel
- Supports their leader in operational trials, aggregates/analyzes data from multiple teams, and communicates results
- Occasionally present project updates in Brand and Business Partner forums

- Bachelor's degree, Masters preferred
- Degree in Operations Management, Continuous Improvement or Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related fields are very beneficial to this role
- 8 years of relevant retail experience
