What are the responsibilities and job description for the Workers' Compensation Defense Legal Secretary position at Pearlman Brown & Wax?
Established Workers’ Compensation Defense Law Firm is seeking an experienced full-time legal secretary for its San Diego office. Ideal candidate should be reliable, organized, dependable, and able to take direction. Candidates must have good written and oral communication skills. Candidates should have proficient knowledge of Workers’ Compensation and must have familiarity with EAMS.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Screening attorney’s calls
- Maintaining up-to-date electronic and hard copy case files
- Maintaining proof of service lists and medical indexes
- Copying and scanning of files to PDF
- Daily review of office calendar, and proactively assisting in the handling of upcoming events
- Determining dates upon which various pleadings must be served and filed, and ensuring service by those dates
- Scheduling/coordinating and filing/serving notice’s of depositions, medical examinations and other court designated hearings
- Retaining court reporters and interpreters
- Maintaining deposition and court calendars
- Following up with doctors regarding appointments and reports
- Handling lien claimant calls, etc.

This position requires physical activity including but not limited to bending, stooping, repetitive motion, and lifting of up to 20 pounds.
