As a Director of Operations for Direct to Consumer at Pearson, you support Product Technology and Product Management teams, facilitating an array of operational tasks at a global scale. You move quickly with the changing environment and are up to date with the latest short-term and long-term priorities of the SVPs and broader organization. Key to this role is being proactive, organized and analytical, while using strong business judgment and communication skills to interact with a variety of people. This position reports to the VP of Operations for Direct to Consumer.
Responsibilities:
- Work for the VP of Operations, Product and Technology leaders to formulate and drive initiatives, from People, Process and Projects.
- Have an end to end view of the challenges and opportunities surrounding the Pearson Higher Education products and drive the team to prioritize and execute on the most pressing issues in your roadmap
- Work with Product management to reduce friction in Pearson’s online product offerings to better service students and learners in all walks of life.
- Work with Technology organizations to be able to rapidly detect, prioritize and fix product issues
- Set up and drive teams to execute on a plan to ensure that Pearson Direct to Consumer programs are on time, on budget and executed with quality.
- Be a mentor and leader for the operations organization, to be involved in mentoring and setting process and culture for the Program management teams supporting DTC.
- Program management
- Provide clarity and transparency on all assigned initiatives and how they are being worked on throughout the organization
- Set up program plan, communicate to stakeholders clearly and succinctly on Risk, Issues and Opportunities.
- Ensure alignment with stakeholders on major missions of the team, proactively work with delivery teams to make sure that key decisions are surfaced and actioned upon.
- Attend management meetings, distribute minutes and drives completion of actions
- Proactively identify issues that could impact the successful execution of business objectives/commitments
- Process
- Work with Technology, Product teams to formulate and evangelize best practices in Program tracking, budget control and investment strategies.
- Attend meetings, understand context, capture major takeaways and drive follow-up actions.
- Exhibit pride of ownership and influence and motivate the teams to perform on a high level.
- Formulate and conduct deep dives into various parts of the technology and product organization and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and ways of working better.
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Program Management experience of large complicated cross functional programs is a must
- Background and experience in Business Process Redesign and experience in leading organizations through change.
- Background in a global large-scale corporate environment.
- Experience in running Roadmaps and ability to influence tradeoff decisions on a macro scale.
- Experience serving as a Program lead from conception to completion.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of people and job functions.
- Adept at typical technology and ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies; Interest and experience in using technology and the Internet to improve work efficiency.
