The Pearson English Language Learning team are looking for an advanced graduate student in the field of second language assessment as a summer intern for 2024. This is a three-month, full-time contract position. We require the candidate to have the following skills, status, and knowledge:
Visa status to work in the US in the summer of 2024
Excellent spoken and written English skills
Current PhD student in a top second language assessment program
Ability to work from remote location with a team of people based in the US in a few different time zones. This requires a computer, headset, and adequate internet connection
High level of skills in Excel, other statistics and software for data analysis and technical writing
Experience with L2 proficiency testing in both research and practice
Duties will include but not be limited to the following: researching topics in books and academic journals and summarizing or presenting results to the team; participating in activities related to the design of new test items, field testing them, listening to or reading test-taker responses, transcribing them, and analyzing them; analyzing and summarizing test-taker responses, scores, and other data (e.g., survey questions, time on task measures) to understand L2 proficiency.
