Summary:
Experienced Software Development Manager to oversee three teams of engineers (12-15 people total) in the production/delivery group of the Spotlight division of Pearson Education. The role is approximately 40% managing engineering deliverables that support production (e.g. custom configurations for customers); 35% overseeing development of software tools to streamline production; and 25% security and overhead.
Spotlight is an AWS Platform-as-a-Service that creates animated videos for millions of parents that explains the test results of their students in multiple languages. Each video is mass-personalized to each student so that it explains their exact scores, what they mean along with specific recommendations on how to improve. Customers include State Education Agencies, school districts and other assessment companies. (www.spotlight-education.com)
Early in 2021,Spotlight was acquired by Pearson NCS, the world's largest learning company. As a result, our business has tripled, with continued growth anticipated in 2022. Currently our team has approximately 30 people. We interface closely with another 25 people in other parts of the Pearson organization.
Each new customer requires a custom configuration of our Platform, requiring a team of 8 people approximately 6 months. This involves software engineers, script writers, animators, voice actors, project managers, account managers, and quality assurance personnel.
Qualifications:
The Software Development Manager must have at least 4 years in a similar role. Experience in a start-up environment is a plus.
LOCATION: REMOTE - United States
As required by the Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For the state of Colorado only, the range of starting pay for this role is $150-165k.
