The role of a Project Manager for Spotlight Education is multifaceted, demanding strong coordination, communication, and organizational skills to ensure project success. This role is pivotal in driving projects to successful completion by ensuring clear communication, maintaining detailed documentation, managing schedules, and forecasting resource needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating Between Squad Members
  • Team Composition: leading a team that includes:
  • Technical Solutions Manager
  • QA Lead
  • Project Coordinator
  • Creative Developer
  • Collaboration: Ensure seamless collaboration within the squad, facilitating communication and aligning the team's efforts to achieve project goals.
  • Coordinating with Other Teams and External Stakeholders
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaise with various internal teams across Pearson, as well as external stakeholders, to deliver on contracts and support Spotlight reporting.
  • Communication: Manage and facilitate communication between teams to ensure all parties have a clear understanding of project requirements, risks, and potential improvements.
  • Stakeholder Interaction: Depending on the project, engage in activities such as:
  • Creative brainstorming sessions
  • Reviewing feedback
  • Conducting focus groups
  • Hosting regular project status meetings
  • Setting Up and Maintaining Project Specifications/Requirements
  • Documentation: Create and maintain project specifications using Confluence pages and Excel spreadsheets. This documentation should clearly define project requirements and details.
  • Inter-Team Documentation: Work with documentation from other teams to understand how their work intersects with Spotlight's projects, considering constraints and defining solutions.
  • Setting Up and Maintaining Project Schedules (Smartsheet)
  • Schedule Ownership: As the Project Manager, you own the project schedule. This includes:
  • Communicating the schedule with clients
  • Gathering necessary information to establish the schedule
  • Utilizing Smartsheet templates, reports, and dashboards to represent project tasks.
  • Manual Adjustments: Make necessary manual changes to Smartsheet schedules to reflect any changes during the project lifecycle.
  • Task Ownership: You are responsible for all Smartsheet tasks in your project(s). If a task is delayed, it's your responsibility to understand the cause, address it, and ensure it is reflected in the Smartsheet.
  • Hour Forecasting: Predict the hours your project squad will spend on each project and report this on a monthly basis to program managers.

  • Strong Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organizational Skills: Proficient in maintaining detailed documentation and schedules.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify risks and issues, then take decisive action to resolve them.
  • Collaboration: Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams and facilitating collaboration.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with tools like Smartsheet, Confluence, and Excel for project management and documentation.

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State, and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The full-time salary range is $70-80k.
