What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Psychometrician position at Pearson?
The Senior Psychometrician will function as a lead psychometrician for assigned testing projects/programs. The Senior Psychometrician will apply extensive knowledge of the testing industry, research methods, classical test theory, Item Response Theory, and the test development process to implement and maintain client programs. The Senior Psychometrician works in collaboration with program managers and content developers to design and implement testing programs. Plans and conducts original research related to computer-based testing and the field of measurement theory.
Working closely with the Content Development team and other test development staff, the Sr. Psychometrician performs various tasks as appropriate to ensure the production of quality tests. The Sr. Psychometrician impacts the validity and reliability of client deliverables. The Sr. Psychometrician promotes the scientific reputation of VUE through presentation and publication of new and original research at industry conferences and in industry journals.
**Education and Experience:**
PhD in Measurement, Quantitative Psychology, Educational Psychology, I/O Psychology or related discipline required
5 years experience in psychometrics
Experience with large-scale testing programs
Strong background in computerized exam delivery, adaptive testing, item response theory (IRT) and classical test theory

Thorough understanding of the principles of test construction, classical and IRT-based item analysis, and item calibration, linking, and equating
Ability to summarize complex technical information and communicate it to a variety of audiences

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
10% Quality Control: Ensures accuracy of tests and test analysis
55% Psychometric Tasks
Planning: Perform initial psychometric program review. Develop a plan that ensures that examination services comply with industry standards for security, validity, reliability, fairness and defensibility. Maintain project plans as appropriate.
Test Design, Generation and Delivery: Develop an appropriate test design including mode of administration, and test specifications. Implement pooled pre-test.
Scoring: Identify and/or develop the way each test is be scored.
Analysis: Analyze test results using appropriate methods.; Perform equating studies
Item bank maintenance: Work with content development to ensure that item pools meet the needs of the program.
Technical Documentation: Produce technical documentation related to item, test and program performance.
Client Interface: Interact with clients for job analysis, standard setting, measurement explanations and other appropriate topics.
15% Research
Research: Identify research components of customer programs. Develop research proposals; design and implement research projects.
Presentation and Publication: Present theoretical and/or application papers at major conferences. Submit theoretical and/or application papers for publication
10% Software Development: Work with the technology team to define technical specifications for software.
5% Mentoring and Training: Contribute to bi-monthly internal team training; train junior psychometricians
5% Internal Communication: Work with members of testing services teams, account managers, and other company teams.
Travel requirements: up to 20% travel required (Domestic and International)
Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. As required by the Colorado and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
Minimum full-time salary range is between $100,000 - $120,000
