POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a delivery position responsible for driving a Straight truck (class B) and/or Tractor Trailer (class A) for the purpose of delivering and unloading various dry, frozen, and cooler products for Peck Food Service customers. This requires using excellent customer service skills and working in accordance with state and DOT regulations and following Company Safety rules and regulations. This position is based in New Stanton, Pennsylvania.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be 21 years of age or older
  2. Must have a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a “clean” driving record (including no DUI in the last 3 years and no multiple DUIs within the last 7 years).
  3. Must possess and be able to present a valid non-expired interstate Medical Examiner’s Certificate Card (MEC).
  4. Must be self-certified as a non-excepted interstate driver with the state licensing agency that issued the CDL (Commercial Drivers License).
  5. Must have a High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  6. One year of verifiable commercial driving experience.
  7. Able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to safety regulations.
  8. Must have basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  9. Must pass a pre-employment Drug screen and Background check
  10. Previous experience in the food service industry (preferred but not required)
  1. (Please note, effective 5/21/14 medical examiners performing DOT medical certifications Must be able to safely operate commercial vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions.
  2. Must meet or exceed the minimum productivity levels established by the company.
  3. Must effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision.
  4. Develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
  5. Maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
  6. Meet or exceed established cases per error goals.
  7. Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem resolution skills.
  8. Deliver product within assigned route schedule and time windows. Immediately inform management team of any deviations.
  9. Unload product from truck or trailer, by hand or using hand cart, and place in designated areas per the customers’ request. May include transporting product down ramp, stairs, or docks, in all weather conditions.
  10. Frequently lift, push, or move product that weighs up to 75 pounds. Frequently reach up to 72” to stack and unstuck pallets and hand cart. Constantly bend and pivot while loading and unloading product, and retrieving items from truck.
  11. Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Contact management for authorization when there are discrepancies on invoices and communicate all errors/returns.
  12. Collect Money (cash or checks) where required, and turn in all funds collected daily.
  13. Pickup, load and unload damaged goods and customer returns, and complete necessary paperwork.
  14. Perform pre-trip and post-trip procedures in accordance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Peck policies and procedures.
  15. Perform coupling procedures for the tractor trailer as needed.
  16. Complete DOT logs (electronic or manual as required), company vehicle maintenance reports and reconcile with appropriate company representative as required.
  17. Follow preferred work methods at all times, and immediately advise supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
  18. Maintain and safely operate all assigned equipment, including but not limited to: hand cart, pallets, load bars, scanning unit, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  19. Maintain sanitary conditions in truck, tractor, and trailer and assist with maintaining sanitary conditions in the warehouse and yard and proper handling of product.
  20. Attend all required company meetings.
  21. Other duties as assigned.
