Summary Description: |
Must be able to perform verification activities: check working thermometer against NIST thermometer, check scale accuracy, check equipment (incubator, refrigerator, freezer monitor). |
Promotes good manufacturing practices & HACCP compliance. |
Process samples by preparing rinses/swabs/product for sampling, prepare dilutions as needed, and plate Petri film. |
Perform Salmonella and Campylobacter testing following written SOPs; includes pre-enriching samples, operating 3M MDA, running MDS, and documenting results, and plating Campy Cefex and preparing plates for incubation. |
Review paperwork to verify completeness and identify any errors, Understand ISO Quality Manual and Method SOPs. |
Comply with all written corporate safety and plant policies. |
Maintain the highest possible level of personal hygiene and cleanliness in accordance with plant GMP policies. |
Learn and exhibit the Peco-Pocahontas values: Safety, Teamwork, Mutual Respect, Accountability, and Honesty. |
Identify and report any suspicious situations to immediate supervisor or plant management official. Abnormal situation would be: Product tampering Willful product adulteration Unauthorized employees in restricted areas Situation where a belief that product adulteration may be occurring Equipment malfunction that may put product wholesomeness at stake |
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Working in a warm/wet/damp environment and/or a cold room temperature environment.
- Standing/walking 100% of the workday.
- Lifting various weights on an as needed basis.
- Able to grip and use hands repetitively.
- Able to bend, stoop, and climb steps.
- Must be comfortable working in organic conditions.
Qualifications:
- Competent math and communication skills.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment.
- At least 2 years of college coursework with a strong emphasis in life sciences.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs.
- Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Good organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must be able to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates degree in laboratory technology.
- Experience in basic laboratory procedures.
- Experience in chemical safety procedures.
