The Opportunity: We’re looking for Trail Managers for our Summer Camps to join our team. Here’s how this job plays a role:

  • As a Trail Manager you will be responsible for all aspects of the Pedalheads Trail program delivery and overall day-to-day operations of the classes. Ensures that classes are running smoothly for the campers, parents, and Instructors.
  • WORK DATES:
    • Work dates vary based on locations but range from June 1st 2022 to September 2 2022

    • starting at: $725 a week

What you’d be responsible for

In addition to sharing your ideas on how we can grow, learn and build, in this role, you’ll also be:

Staffing

  • Schedule staff, communicate with Trail staff of schedule for the upcoming week. Work with Bike Manager as needed.
  • Curriculum delivery - ensure Instructors are following Trail schedules, activities, skill development etc. as per the Trail Instructor Manual and Training
  • Communicate directly with Regional Manager regarding questions/concerns about the program
  • Mentor and motivate the Trail staff team, conduct daily huddle talk, create a fun and safe environment to work
  • Deal with employee relations issues consults with Regional Manager or HR for further guidance

Camp Operations

  • Overall site leader in charge of all Pedalheads Trail programs at the site
  • Responsible for Trail site phone for parents and Customer Care to reach campers in the Trail programs
  • Responsible for overseeing and facilitating camp sign-in and sign-out each day, as well as making class switches when necessary
  • Responsible for managing and maintaining camp equipment inventory i.e. first aid kits, tool kits, report cards
  • Liaises with the staff and management at the facilities where the camp's "home base" site is (if applicable)
  • Communicates and regularly updates the Regional Manager and/or Site Support team

Customer Relations

  • Proactively engages with parents and children on site
  • Deals with any complaints in a timely manner and advises the Regional Manager of complaint/action steps taken/outcome
  • Works with Customer Care throughout the season to advise of any customer events, changes, issues, registrations, etc.

Administration and Payroll

  • Prepares and prints weekly Pedalheads Trail class lists
  • Ensures class lists are thoroughly reviewed, looks for errors or any possible issues
  • Enters changes/updates to class lists each week
  • Enters all Pedalheads Trail Camp staff hours into payroll on a weekly basis
  • Takes on-site registrations and completes paperwork where applicable

Teaching and Training

  • Will follow staffing guideline and, therefore, may teach in the Pedalheads Trail program depending on registration
  • Assists Pedalheads Bike Site Manager with conducting On-Site Training
  • Attends Site Leader Training sessions
  • Familiarizes themselves with and teaches Instructors details of local trail system/features around site/weekly schedule of trail use
  • Set-up and oversee Monday on-site assessment

Skills, knowledge and experience

Here are some of the skills/ specifics and experience that are important for this role:

  • First aid certificate
  • Knowledge of the local trail networks
  • Familiar with basic trail riding skills, language, and/or culture, or willing to learn
  • Comfortable leading and managing a group of up to 10 children with one other instructor
  • Able to work well independently and with others
  • Needs a basic mountain bike (minimum requirement: front suspension)
  • You have your Covid-19 Vaccination Certificate/Documents
