Part/Full Time: Full Time – 40 hours/week (Monday through Friday 5:30am – 2:00pm)

General Summary

Peer emotional support is the foundation of the services provided by Peer Kent. The ability to discuss struggles and successes related to experiences shared by another individual promotes healing and compliments traditionally accepted professional services in the healthcare system. The role of the

Certified Peer Counselor is to work with individuals who are struggling with issues related to mental health, addiction and/or chronic illness. The Certified Peer Counselor will be an accountability partner to help members plan, evaluate, and maintain their recovery journey by engaging in a positive supportive relationship. The Certified Peer Counselor is also responsible for demonstrating and inspiring hope, trust and a positive outlook and optimizing client connection with a broad range of community-based services and natural supports.

Evergreen Treatment Services Mission:

Certified Peer Counselors (CPC) contracted to serve individuals in Medically Assisted Treatment

(MAT) for Opioid Use Disorder will work directly with the individuals referred for Peer Services and provide general Peer Support and referrals to people engaged in services with ETS. The CPC will work closely with the clinical staff and treatment teams to coordinate Peer Services. CPC will integrate with the ETS staff. Peer Services may include: 1:1 Peer Support, Peer led support groups, resource and referral, community outreach and connections to Peer Kent services. CPC can provide services in the office, via telehealth, or in the community as appropriate. CPC will support identified or self-referred individuals to connect with Peer Kent services, including the Recovery Coach Academy.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Program Manager to establish guidelines, best practices, client tracking, and expectations in the development and application of this new position.
  • Work with members early in recovery from or struggling with substance use disorder, mental health, and/or behavioral health concerns to provide support and referral services.
  • Work in collaboration with assigned (ETS) site supervisor and treatment teams for clinical supervision and effective coordination of Peer Services.
  • Provide intake services and case management for programming contracts. Engage with referred peers in a timely manner, 1-3 workdays of referral.
  • Maintain regular contact with referred peers as designated in Individual Placement & Support.
  • Submit data, treatment notes, documentation, and other reporting in a timely fashion.
  • Develop relationships with community partners.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings for Peer Kent, and ETS.
  • Understand and follow all Policy and Procedures of Peer Kent, and ETS.
  • Respond to all phone calls and emails within 1 business day.
  • Act as a representative on behalf of Peer Kent as needed with regards to community collaborations and events as assigned by the Program Manager . This includes reporting back to the Program Manager with updates and for direction on how to proceed with our involvement.
  • Maintain clear communication with staff and volunteers. This includes keeping the Program

Manager updated on weekly schedules and copied on all important communication.

  • Attend on-going training programs offered to enhance effectiveness of role.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Peer Counselor Training completed and eligible for DOH Agency Affiliated Counselor

Credentialling. Employment is contingent upon qualifying for an AAC.

  • Must identify as someone in recovery from substance use and/or co-occurring and in remission for a period of at least one year.
  • Ability to be an active listener by asking questions and reflecting on what is being said.
  • Proficient level of ability with computer software: Microsoft Office Products.
  • Ability to work both independently and under supervision.
  • Ability to maintain healthy boundaries with peers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lived experience with SUD with a recovery path that included Medically Assisted Treatment.
  • Have experience working as a CPC.
  • Experience in Trauma informed Peer Support
  • Experienced in Motivational Interviewing techniques
  • Established relationships with local community-based organizations
