Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Mentor to join our team. As a Peer Mentor, you will provide support and guidance to individuals facing behavioral health challenges, addiction, and mental health issues. Your role will involve utilizing your own lived experience to inspire and motivate others on their journey to recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Engage with individuals in a supportive and non-judgmental manner
- Provide one-on-one mentoring and counseling sessions
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive change
- Assist individuals in developing coping skills and strategies for managing crisis situations
- Collaborate with social workers, counselors, and other professionals to develop comprehensive treatment plans
- Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the healthcare system
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and support groups
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of social work systems and resources
- Excellent mentoring and counseling skills
- Familiarity with behavioral health, addiction counseling, and mental health counseling principles
- Ability to provide crisis intervention and management support
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Empathy and understanding towards individuals facing challenges
- Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with clients
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
