SUMMARY:
Responsible for the retail installation branch group processes and continuous improvement efforts. Directs the responsibilities of the installers, both internal and subcontractors. Participates with other members of the leadership team in developing strategies to ensure the company’s continued growth and profitability. Works with other department managers/supervisors and/or Pella Corporation to resolve escalated customer concerns. Responsible for the identification, development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that support total customer satisfaction, company profitability and market share growth.
Principal DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to:
· Supervises employees plus subcontractors for installation, drywall, stucco, paint/stain. This includes but is not limited to selection, training, performance evaluation and development, skill assessment, discipline and discharge, payroll reporting, overtime scheduling, timecard approval, invoice approval, and all other items that are involved in supervising this group.
· Ensures that all customer expectations regarding field installation are met:
o Ensures adequate and efficient staffing strategies for installation.
o Drives accuracy and urgency within the field installation.
o Drives first time completion rate for the installation events.
o Ensures installation capacity is managed to maintain appropriate lead times for customer expectations.
o Encourages utilization and continuous improvement of processes, systems, and metrics.
· Manages subcontractor installation program and files. Heavy focus on recruiting and onboarding subcontractors for the territory. Maintains appropriate insurance and licensing for sub-contractors in territory.
· Coordinates installation and post-installation problem resolution.
· Considers strategic opportunities and shares information with staff to develop decision making ability and growth.
· Responds to and/or delegates escalated customer inquiries (i.e. missing items, wrong items, installation questions, product issues, etc.) and ensures resolution.
· Develops an expert level understanding of all Pella products and their applications.
· Leads ongoing training for field personnel and sales representatives.
· Develops and implements processes that ensure consistent and professional product service to all customers that are both an effective remedy to customer concerns and an efficient use of internal resources.
· Drives performance on key metrics related to install.
· Influences the key drivers of the company’s customer satisfaction rating.
· Ensures that all team members have a high level of diagnostic proficiency to trouble-shoot and fix customer problems correctly the first time.
· Provides initial and on-going training for team members including installation applications, new service techniques, product features, pricing, and product applications.
· Develops and manages processes to ensure a safe working environment.
· Manages all installation operating supplies which includes maintaining the appropriate levels of inventory. Responsible for providing our field staff with the appropriate tools and resources to adequately perform their jobs in meeting customer expectations.
· Responsible for meeting P & L objectives for the installation department territory.
· Ensures best practice sharing amongst installers and service technicians.
· Conducts thorough job-site evaluations to ensure that all installation standards and requirements are being fulfilled. Reviews discrepancies with installers immediately.
· Responsible for the management of all warranty and goodwill work done and resolving situations involving customer credit for parts and service performed.
· Responsible for managing all installation operating supplies which includes maintaining the appropriate levels of inventory.
· Responsible for creating synergy between installation and service departments to resolve product service concerns related to the product installation.
· Manages a fleet of company installation vehicles and equipment. This includes shopping for vehicles, executing vehicle prep (wrapping, parts, tools) and vehicle registration with local DMV and insurance company.
· Maintains in-house installer vehicle and driver files for FMCSA and DOT compliance.
· Acquires and holds contractor license(s) for the local territory.
· Acquires and holds a DOT medical card.
· Acquires and holds EPA RRP lead paint certification.
