What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cloud FinOps Manager position at Peloton?
Peloton is seeking a Cloud Finance Operations Manager ( Cloud FinOps Manager ) that will manage complex financial ecosystems in Cloud platforms and SaaS products. This role will work closely with software engineering management, financing and accounting team, platform owners, internal auditors, cloud providers and our SaaS vendor partner teams to complete our software platform roadmap and manage our ongoing costs.
As Cloud FinOps Manager, you will develop, implement and/or improve the processes for establishing, maintaining, updating, and communicating standard costs and software division’s pricing updates. You will help to find opportunities or solutions that enable operating efficiencies and achieve platform cost targets. You will drive cost savings analysis, and advocate for improvements in process or platform product usage.
The right candidate is a self starter with a willingness to wear multiple hats and go beyond their own role. You will support the team over the goal line by balancing existing experience, listening skills, and decisiveness. You align people to goals and make sure they feel that they are key to the success of the program.
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON
- Develop cost management processes, mechanisms and controls to provide ongoing cost transparency and governance
- managing optimal resources and drive down costs by constantly learning & implementing new strategies
- Provide insights & deal economics support for strategic SAAS centric vendor usage and forecasting
- Drive a culture of proactive cost management, transparency and optimization across AWS and GCP
- Identify cost saving / optimization opportunities and liaise with technology team and finance teams to provide execution & forecasting support
- Track cost optimization actions and associated value
- Oversee vendor incentives and guidance for incentive application (e.g. Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, credits, Spot instances, etc...)
- Monitor ongoing cost management compliance
- Provide insights into cost spends across various cost centers on a weekly cadence with appropriate spending optimization strategies.
YOU BRING TO PELOTON
- 5 years of experience working with software teams with a keen interest and eye to cost management
- Experience working with cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, Azure.
- Experience in financial analysis / working with one or more of cloud costing tools such as Cost Explorer, Cloud Zero, Cloudability, Cloud Health is strongly desired
- Experience in delivering presentation content to business and technology partners
- Proactive approach and ability to work independently in a large organization
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Degree in finance/economics is ideal
- Certification in FinOps certifications is nice to have
