PEMCCO, Inc. is an Information Technology and Information Management (IT/IM) firm providing support to DoD, Federal, State, Local and commercial customers. We are currently seeking an experienced Systems Support Engineer to work on a team located in the D.C./Baltimore, MD area; however, remote work may be permissible.
Summary/Objective
The successful candidate will identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. The system engineer will also provide variety of inspection services for transit system. The incumbent in this role will be also responsible for determining causes of operating errors and deciding course of action.
Essential Functions
• Databases - Using a computer application to manage large amounts of information, including creating and editing simple databases, inputting data, retrieving specific records, and creating reports to communicate the information.
• Build, test, and modify product prototypes using working models or theoretical models constructed with computer simulation.
• Write detailed functional specifications that document the hardware development process and support hardware introduction.
• Specify power supply requirements and configuration, drawing on system performance expectations and design specifications.
• Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
• Design and develop computer hardware and support peripherals, including central processing units (CPUs), support logic, microprocessors, custom integrated circuits, and printers and disk drives.
• Select hardware and material, assuring compliance with specifications and product requirements.
• Monitor functioning of equipment and make necessary modifications to ensure system operates in conformance with specifications.
• Test and verify hardware and support peripherals to ensure that they meet specifications and requirements, by recording and analyzing test data.
• Direct technicians, engineering designers or other technical support personnel as needed.
• Provide technical support to designers, marketing and sales departments, suppliers, engineers and other team members throughout the product development and implementation process.
• Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.
• Evaluate factors such as reporting formats required, cost constraints, and need for security restrictions to determine hardware configuration.
• Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan layout, including type of computers and peripheral equipment modifications.
• Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers.
• Identify, analyze, and document problems with program function, output, online screen, or content.
• Conduct software compatibility tests with programs, hardware, operating systems, or network environments.
• Test system modifications to prepare for implementation.
• Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or completeness, or to mitigate risks.
• Update automated test scripts to ensure currency.
• Create or maintain databases of known test defects.
• Install, maintain, or use software testing programs.

Required Education and Experience
