PenTeleData is seeking a Systems Programmer to join our Systems Administration team. The Systems Programmer will play a crucial role in defining, developing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining software applications to support our business requirements. This position requires a self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
Strategy and Planning Role:
- Collaborate with developers, programmers, and designers to conceptualize and develop new software programs and applications.
- Analyze and assess existing business systems and procedures.
- Assist in defining software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
- Research, identify, analyze, and fulfill requirements of business applications.
Operational Management Role:
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve issues with custom or third-party software systems.
- Write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications.
- Administer critical analysis of test results and deliver solutions to problem areas.
- Develop and maintain user manuals and guidelines.
- Train end users to operate new or modified programs.
- Co-ordinate and test upgrades of software with project manager.
- Report software issues owned by third parties and ensure timely resolutions.
- Manage milestones for various projects/tasks.
- Respond to assigned Help Desk tickets promptly.
- Provide backup support for various applications as needed.
Additional Systems Administration Role (As required):
- Assist Systems Administrators with daily department tasks, including basic help desk support, customer support, system monitoring, and response/resolution.
- Set-up, manage, maintain, and decommission Linux and Windows Servers, as well as End-User devices.
- Assist with installing, updates, and patching different operating systems and related software packages.
- Respond to and resolve CVEs and other security alerts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or software engineering, or 5 years equivalent work experience
- Established residency in Pennsylvania
- Extensive experience with relational databases and operating systems
- Hands-on experience developing test cases and test plans
- Strong understanding of coding methods and best practices
- Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols preferred
- Proficiency in one or more of the following languages including PHP, Perl, Python, Java, C, C , PowerShell, Go
- Proficiency in Git Version Control System preferred
- Strong Database Management Skills in Oracle, MySQL, Maria DB
- Analytical and Problem-Solving abilities Skills
- Excellent Communication Skills - Oral and Written
- Project Management Skills
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to research software-related issues and products
